Losing the Ability to Read Beyond ... oops, there we go, lost you already!

In this Facebook age we seem to be losing the ability read more than just the headline. Many are happy to read a headline, believe it entirely and share the 'fact' amongst their friends. Even if the story is laid out in detail they just won't read it, their mind is already set on the direction they're going with the headline. I write a lot, I write long and deep. It could be argued that I preach in my writing and, well yes, that's correct. In a Facebook or Blog post that's what we can do, we can have a thought, expand upon it and open it up for comment except ... few are reading past the headline. It could be that what I am writing is just not interesting enough and, it's quite topical, quite current, quite not about Big Brother so, perhaps it isn't so interesting. Perhaps I should add pictures of fluffy cats? I've had people say to me that they really can't be doing with reading lots of 'stuff'. That they can't take it all in. I'

Download Festival 2015

We arrived in Donnington Around 10am or so, perhaps a little earlier. Gates opened late meaning we only just had time to head over to the Zippo stage to see our first act the 'Lounge Kittens' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv0H1Yhc89w I didn't record this video but it is them at the festival, the next one is the last set they did which was extra special awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWU6LhF2Ezg I know I'm going to get this next lot in the wrong order but, most significant next lot are Hollywood Undead who I thought I'd never get to see as they are from the US.   We had a great view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADmbRFkKOps They were excellent and it was so good to know each and every song they performed. It was also unexpected to see them without their masks.   So, we also had Rise Against and A Day to Remember, Rise Against I think were first and, somewhere in there were Mallory Knox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1LhfdyToxA http://www.youtube.com/watch?

Adobo for Dinner

Smelling good cooking downstairs. Thankfully it’s neither complicated to prepare or cook and the two don’t happen at the same time so even better! We’ll go eat when I can no longer handle the smell and not eating!!!

First biggie Cycle run …

OK, not a massive run but 11 miles and that’s not bad considering how long since I last really did any cycling. I’ve since bought a new seat, the bloke in the shop did warn me that longer distance over 20 miles would get painful but with all the pot holes around Pitsford Reservoir I don’t think I need to wait until I get to 20 miles for that to be happening! Totally enjoyed today.     Daisy struggled a little bit but she soldiered on and managed really well! The boys enjoyed being pulled along by Daddy in their little carriage made for two

Grandchildren do have …

Some of the weirdest conversations! Was with Danny yesterday for a couple of hours and he straight off started talking about death and that everyone dies eventually and their heart stops and that’s that .. all promoted by the loss of our cat Molly recently. We were going to go to the park but so determined to talk about death was he we detoured to Northampton Crematorium instead. We went around all the little plaques and he was quite fascinated. I explained to him that here they didn’t bury dead people but burnt their body instead then handed the small container of ashes to their relatives and how some people choose to use them afterwards. It was all very matter of fact and he clearly enjoyed the conversation. He was most disappointed that the crematorium itself was shut. There was nothing bad from the experience and it appeared that several grieving people were cheered up to see him there.

Wonderful 52nd Birthday

June 4th 2015 and it was my 52nd Birthday. A gloriously warm day, no rain, just lovely blue skies all the way. [caption id="attachment_1590" align="alignleft" width="176"] June 4th 2015[/caption]             Robin started the day off by treating me to breakfast at Buddies USA over near junction 15 of the M1 I am normally not over impressed with Buddies, bad service and all that but, thankfully, I made the right choice with Grange Park     In the morning, after breakfast, I headed over to Irchester with Daisy so we could mess about in Jungle Parc, one of those High Wire try not to fall out the trees sort of places and it was a great laugh. I've been before and this time I was pleased to say that I actually didn't fall off anywhere and generally speaking managed to land just about right on all the zip wires.   Me & Sean went for a 3 mile bike ride in the afternoon then, in the evening we headed over to Bella Italia with Matt, Anne & Zoey for

Busy Day

Had a lovely trip down to Essex earlier. There was an amazing lack of traffic. I cannot remember the last time I managed there and back without any sort of hitch at all, no hold up, no roads works, nothing. Not even the usual idiotic Sunday drivers! So, that means I was painfully earlier than I should have been meaning a lot of waiting around at the ex in laws house to go out for a mean. That then meant I was late for getting over to Dad’s in Wickford which proved a good thing because he’d forgotten to tell me he was going out! So, as it happens, I just needed to wait 20 minutes for him to turn up and everything was good. Also met my cousin for the first time in a great many years. As a gay man I think I can get away with saying she still looks beautiful, her face always smiles, or so it has always seemed to me. I got a missed call whilst I was out, well, several missed calls from one person or another. One in particular. Not going into too many details but, I really don’t think I c
