Joseph

Finally, after only around 30 years, I got to see Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat today. Let's start by saying that the Derngate Theatre in Northampton has no air conditioning, that or they are saving quids by not turning it on and today has been the hottest day of the year. At 22:00 it was 26°C so that gives some idea of just how hot. There was actually a heat haze in the theatre. We did have really good seats though. Not the expensive good seats but seats way back but with an excellent over all view of the performance. My memory of 'Joseph' was from studying it at school when I was around 12 I guess, I may have been younger. My music teach, Mrs Gibbons, was fascinated with the show, enthralled to the point of obsession. It was good though the way she relayed it else I'd not have wanted to see this show quite so much, thank you Mrs Gibbons. The show was amazing. It is so fast paced it was difficult to find time to breath. One great number led into another

End of an Era?

Well, not exactly but there was something I found out earlier which pissed me off a little ... Costa Coffee have bought the café at Tesco Mereway. This is the end of the sub £1 tea and coffee for sure. Further to that and arguing a green agenda, Tesco are stopping the provision of carrier bags as of September though they will still have some available for a fee ... once again, the poor pay to be green whilst the rich don't notice. We have tons of bags here but they may well start to fall apart quite soon. Deej has been on a Babylon 5 watching drive today ... he has watched loads of episodes and slept threw a whole lot more! Strangely, I am quite enjoying the series except not quite enough to watch it one episode after another all day long. The girls got the house looking amazing earlier and well deserved the treats we bought back from Tesco. Spoke to Renault UK again, a guy called 'Wesley'. Whilst I was not able to get them to pay anything I did at least get the guy to open

A Cold Front

Or rather, not! Got the final death sentence on the AC in the car today. The quote is for over £500 and it has already cost me £90+. I'd allowed £200 tops so I couldn't allow it more than £110. So, that's that and I have to hope for good dry weather now and may all the raining days be cold ones. I was a little upset today to discover it was one of my friends 18th birthday. He was asking around for someone to spend it with and I had to let him down because I was trying to sort the car out. On top of that I had a 'pretend' cop coming round to visit to discuss the setting up of neighbourhood watch in this area. What was annoying about that was him being due here at 5pm yet he actually turned up at 6.45pm still expecting a meeting on the subject. I feel doubly mean to Andy now for not agreeing to meet him as I could easily have changed what I did with the car until tomorrow and, if I'd know the cop was going to mess about, I could have cleared the remainder of the d

What do you mean it's nearly August?

Yes, here we go again, just getting into the whole notion that summer is ahead of me, shirtless guys, suntans and sleepless nights and it's nearly August already. What does that mean cos surely summer goes through to September? Well, yes,in theory it does but also, in theory, it starts some time in June and we've had sod all so far so that's a 50% failure rate. This puts a lot of hope riding on just 50% of the remaining possibility! Not even the slightest whiff of a hose pipe ban. I was reminded earlier of one of my favourite bits of advice ... take ownership of your own feelings and leave others to take care of theirs. That may sound a little harsh but if a conflict arises between one person and another meaning one of them is going to end up miserable, we have to fall back to number one and let the other person do the same. It's also dead important never to deny our own feelings because they are inconvenient to our lifestyle. Feelings don't go away unless we make

Bouncy bouncy, fun, fun fun ...

Deej and me assembled a trampoline for one of the other carers from the group yesterday. We also had to move a swing as she has one of the smallest gardens ever. It was a small miracle we got things fitted at all and am so glad I took a tape measure along! It was a good morning though and we have had a right laugh doing it. We sat down and watched 'Stargate Continuum' last night. Three times we got interrupted and had to stop the movie so shall have to try again some other time when there is less chance of this happening. It was a good movie though, all the usual Stargate magic with some excellent twists. Sad to see Don S Davis in it so soon after he died. Great though to have a great many familiar characters from previous episodes show up. I actually failed to detect any glaring errors too. Only downside is that there is no planned follow up movie or new series of SG1, this really could have been the end of the line for it and that's a sad thought. It is good though that w

The Very latest ... read all about it

Got up, had some grub and headed off to Robin's place to help him out with a guy he sees regular for his health. It was a good visit and we had a laugh. As usual his cat Minerva was in and out like a rent boy on a Saturday night. OK, maybe not exactly like a rent boy now I think about it! Came back to get on with some put off accounting which I am pleased to say balanced perfectly. I filled out some forms, made some required phone calls and posted some letters. After I had just finished that and by now, pushing 3pm, Robin visited here with David, our friend originally from Texas but lately of Clapham. We discussed a little economy, some anomalies and the very silly subject of why it costs more to get a three day return than it does to buy a day return. Neither of us could really resolve that issue except for that the service providers know more people need more than a day so they can screw them for more money whereas those on a day return are more likely to seek alternative transpo

Readers

Today I found out that someone new was reading my blog, well, new to me as a known reader of this. he has the impression of me being, actually, I shall use his words: You come across as a troubled, confused and generally miserable individual and that's not a prod at yourself but what I think. Hmm, it got me thinking how some may have developed perceptions of me which don't get anywhere near the real picture from reading this blog. I think the posts are varied enough that quite possibly if someone already has a perception of me they can find an entry which backs up their argument. They'll find many others that contradict it but what they choose to use is entirely up to them. For the record, gaps in my posts are generally meaning that I am not really phased by anything right now. Often those gaps can be quite long. In other words, most of the time I am really happy with my life. There are bound to be times when I am pissed off at someone or something and those moments tend t

Touching Flies

Flies and touch screen monitors do not mix! Is there a way to insert a scream right here? I keep turning the touch screen off and it keeps coming back on again and flies seem to be attracted to it ... it's like having biological pop up windows!
